On Saturday, the New York Mets took on the Miami Marlins looking for some payback. Miami shut out New York on Friday night, beating them 8-0 for their 14th win of the year.
The Amazins battled hard but would end up losing Saturday's game as well by a score of 10-9 in extras. The bullpen let the club down, giving up five combined runs in the ninth and tenth innings.
Marlins slugger Jazz Chisholm Jr. was monumental in the Saturday victory. He finished his day going 3-for-5 with a home run, three runs batted in, and three runs scored.
The loss dropped the Mets down to 20-25. They are currently 11.5 games behind the Philadelphia Phillies who hold control of the National League East.

Is it time for Mets fans to worry about Edwin Diaz?
Things were supposed to be different for the Mets this season. They were getting their All-Star closer, Edwin Diaz back after missing the entire 2023 season. However, he has not been too reliable lately.
Diaz blew his third straight game on Saturday after Josh Bell smoked a three-run homer. Now, the club has lost a second consecutive game to one of the league's worst teams.
Manager Carlos Mendoza may want to think about giving Diaz a break and switching things up. That might be all the hard-throwing righty needs to get back to his All-Star form.
The club could look at giving Adam Ottovino the ninth-inning duties while Diaz figures it out. They could also run Jorge Lopez out there to close games out.
Whatever the club decides to do, they must do it fast. While it is still early in the season, the gap in the NL East is only growing larger.
