Sean Manaea has reunited with the New York Mets, signing a three-year $75 million contract. His addition to the starting rotation was well received by his new teammates, with fellow starter Kodai Senga sending him a warm welcome.

On Instagram, Senga posted a story about Manaea's new contract signing. The latter reshared the story with a three-word reaction:

"Thank you brother."

Manaea was one of the two gambles—the other being Luis Severino, who penned a record contract with the Athletics—signed by president of baseball operations David Stearns at the start of the 2024 season to lead the pitching staff. The 32-year-old emerged as the team's ace, going 12-6 with a 3.47 ERA. He also pitched a regular season high of 181.2 innings.

He will rejoin the pack along with Senga, who is returning from an injury-laden 2024 season that reduced him to just 5.1 innings. They will form the 1-2 punch at the top of the rotation with a middle pack consisting of new signings Frankie Montas and Clay Holmes.

The latter pair are the gambles Stearns is going with this season. Montas has been inconsistent in the big leagues, and Holmes hasn't been a starter since 2018. They will also be joined by Griffin Canning, signed this year, who had two below-par seasons at the Los Angeles Angels before heading to the East Coast.

David Stearns expresses honest feelings about the Sean Manaea signing

After making the move official, Stearns appreciated the way Manaea conducted himself within the Mets organization. His ability to lead the pitching rotation definitely stood out and was one of the success stories of their unpredicted NL Championship Series run.

“Sean was an integral part of what the team accomplished last season,” Stearns said in a statement. “He impressed on the field leading the rotation and in the clubhouse with his character, attitude, and composure. I am excited to watch him continue to flourish over the next few years.”

Manaea will look to improve on his 77-62 career record as a pitcher. He has been outspoken about his love for playing in New York, and Queens' ballclub will be happy to have him in their midst for the next three seasons.
