The Los Angeles Angels posted their 63rd win of the season on Sunday with a nail-biting 9-8 victory over their division rival Houston Astros at Minute Maid Park. Despite another disappointing campaign, the Angels have ensured that they will not lose a hundred games this year. They are the only franchise in the MLB that has not yet posted a 100-loss season since its existence.
Nevertheless, their achievement was met with a lot of ridicule on Reddit as fans made fun of how the organization has become a symbol of mediocrity.

This year, they have completed a full decade since their last appearance at the postseason in 2014. This transpired despite having two of the most talented players in the entire game, Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani, on their roster together for six years.
Therefore, the team has been the cause of huge frustration not only for their own fans but also for baseball aficionados in general. At the same time, they have also become a source of mirth and cynical comments on social media.
"Season failed successfully," remarked a fan.
"So, they're basically the most mid team of all time? And somehow managing to do so with Trout and Ohtani on the team at the same time..." posted one fan.
"Too mediocre to completely tank," summed up another fan.
The sarcastic comments continued to flow on Reddit.
"Our reign of dominance continues," one fan posted.
"We are number 1 at not being number 2!," said one fan.
"This is their second world series win," another fan said.
Following the win on Sunday, the Angels avoided getting swept by the Astros in a four-game series. They still lie in last place in the AL West with a 63-93 record and just six more games left to play in the season.
Angels still on course for unwanted record

The LA Angels were formed with the first expansion of the MLB in 1961, and they have picked up nine division titles since then. They also won the American League pennant in 2002 en route to clinching the World Series that year.
They posted their best regular season record after finishing at 100-62 in 2008, the only campaign in their history with a hundred wins. On the other hand, their 95 defeats in 1968 and 1980 are the highest in a single season.
Many of their fans feared that the current team might become the first one to lose 100 games in a season after a disastrous start to the campaign. But even though the team managed to avert that humiliation on Sunday afternoon, they are still in danger of finishing with the worst record in the history of the franchise.
