Former Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Trevor Bauer isn't going to make his desired MLB return anytime soon. However, playing in Mexico has made Bauer fall in love with baseball again.
Bauer said he has rediscovered his love for the sport during his stint with Mexican team Diablos Rojos del México this year.
Bauer said in a pre-game interview on Monday:
"Having the support of the Diablos organization, players, teammates and everyone in the organization has been pretty important for me. I kind of rediscovered the love of playing baseball this year."
Bauer's agent, Rachel Luba, who has been campaigning for the former Cy Young Winner's return to the major league, cannot be happier for him. She showed her appreciation for the Diablos Rojos in a post on X, formerly Twitter.
"Seeing Trevor Bauer fall in love with baseball again after it broke his heart in so many ways, has been the best part about this year. And none of that would have been possible without the DiablosRojos owners, front office, and his teammates and manager. Grateful is an understatement."
Trevor Bauer's remarkable milestone displayed at the Mexican Baseball Hall of Fame
Although Trevor Bauer has not played in the MLB for nearly three years, the former All-Star is still showing no signs of slowing down. Bauer broke the LMB record for most strikeouts in a game after registering 19 strikeouts for the Diablos Rojos against Guerreros de Oaxaca in June.
Bauer's remarkable feat was inducted into the Mexican Baseball Hall of Fame and the veteran pitcher was welcomed to facility earlier this week along with teammate and former MLB star Robinson Cano.
"It’s a great honor to be welcomed to the Mexican Baseball Hall of Fame. It’s an incredible facility and the ball from my 19 strikeout game earlier this year will be displayed there, so if you’re ever in Monterrey, I highly recommend checking it out!," Bauer said.
Trevor Bauer's parents have been going to the Diablos Rojos games to cheer for the former MLB pitcher. His father believes Bauer has had the most fun pitching in Mexico since his college baseball days.
