The Los Angeles Dodgers won their second World Series in four years after beating the New York Yankees in five games in October. Following their triumph in the postseason the NL pennant winners strengthen their rotation by signing Blake Snell this offseason.

The two-time Cy Young winner signed a five-year, $182 million contract with the reigning World Series winners last Tuesday. Snell's arrival bolsters a Dodgers rotation that is set to welcome two-way phenom Shohei Ohtani's return to pitching in 2025.

Ohtani played his first year with the Dodgers in a restricted role as a designated hitter after his elbow surgery last offseason. Dodgers' president of baseball operations, Andrew Friedman, reflected on the flexibility Ohtani's return to the mound provides the team.

Friedman said on MLB Network (1:50 onwards):

"The six-man rotation is what's going to happen with Yamamoto with Ohtani and Blake Snell. Before we signed him, with Glasnow, obviously in those funky scary parts of the schedule, where you have an off day on Thursday and one on Monday.
"We'll get creative and we'll figure out ways around that, not to give guys too much. But Shohei Ohtani allows you to do that and he allows that opportunity to run a six-man rotation and still have a full pen."

Friedman stated the "ultimate goal" of the team with Ohtani and Snell's inclusion in the rotation. He added:

"But with each of our guys, it's doing everything we can to put ourselves in the position to win the division, get a bye to then have the best chance to win. The ultimate goal, It's obviously to win the World Series. So, Adding Blake Snow into the mix with our existing guys. We couldn't be more excited."

The Dodgers rotation was hit with several injuries that included starters Tyler Glasnow, Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Clayton Kershaw. With the arrival of Blake Snell, Los Angeles will employ a six-man rotation featuring Yamamoto, Glasnow, Snell, Ohtani, Tony Gonsolin and Dustin May.

Glasnow shared his excitement on being part of a star-studded rotation that would welcome back Shohei Ohtani.

"It's gonna be insane," Glasnow said in an episode of "The Chris Rose Rotation" podcast.
"That's going to be fun. [Blake] Snell, Shohei [Ohtani], [Yoshinobu] Yama[moto], Bobby [Miller], [and Clayton] Kershaw. So many people. It's going to be a really good rotation," he added.

Despite an injury-riddled season, Tyler Glasnow pitched a career-high 134 innings in his first year with the Dodgers in 2024.
