Los Angeles Dodgers designated hitter Shohei Ohtani has been leading the league in several categories. The Japanese superstar is having a stellar 2024 season, having already achieved multiple accolades and shattered several records.
One of his remarkable achievements was recently becoming the sole member of the 50-50 club. Ohtani crossed the mark of 50 homers and 50 stolen bases in a single season, becoming the first player ever to do so.
Every item of the historic moment involving Shohei Ohtani has become highly sought after by MLB fans, whether it's the ball he hit or the gloves he wore. Ohtani's game-wore pants were also incorporated into trading cards by Topps.
Most recently, the trading card company announced that Shohei Ohtani’s gloves will also be featured in trading cards. Sharing images of the cards, Topps wrote:
“Shohei Ohtani’s batting gloves that he wore while hitting his 50th home run are going to be put into trading cards, including these 1/1 relic autographs.”
The Topps Dynasty Black Glove features a piece of Shohei Ohtani’s glove along with his signature. During the LA Dodgers game against the Miami Marlins on September 19, Ohtani hit three home runs, bringing his total to 51 homers, and stole two bases, making his count 51 at that time.
So far in the 2024 season, Shohei Ohtani has hit 54 homers, driven in 130 RBIs, stolen 59 bases, and is hitting .310 with a 1.036 OPS.
Shohei Ohtani expresses determination after 2024 regular season ends
Shohei Ohtani ended the 2024 regular season with a 12-game winning streak, which is the third-longest in his career. He previously had a 15-game streak in 2023 and an 18-game streak in 2022.
After Sunday’s game of the Los Angeles Dodgers 2-1 victory against the Colorado Rockies, Ohtani said through his interpreter (via MLB.com):
“So now with the regular season over, the accumulated stats don’t matter anymore. I’m going to be focused on maintaining where I am and making sure that I’m focused throughout.”
The Dodgers, with 98 wins, 64 losses and a .605 winning percentage, are set to play their first playoff game on Saturday.
