Los Angeles Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani have announced that he and his wife, Mamiko Tanaka are expecting their first child. Ohtani shared the big news on Saturday through a charming Instagram post that included an adorable photoshoot with their dog, Decoy and baby clothes.

In the post, Decoy is seen lying down along with peach-colored baby clothes and tiny baby shoes, along with their sonogram that was covered with a baby emoji.

Shohei Ohtani expressed his excitement about becoming a father as he wrote in the caption of the post:

"Can’t wait for the little rookie to join our family soon!"

Both his English and Japanese-speaking supporters and fans were very receptive of this big news as they wished and congratulated Ohtani and Mamiko on the new chapter in their lives together.

The Ohtanis' new baby will have the benefit of great genes. While his dad is a renowned baseball superstar, his mother, Mamiko Tanaka is also a former professional basketball player who played for the Fujitsu Red Wave in Japan until 2023.

Shohei Ohtani wins AP Male Athlete of the Year for 3rd time

For Shohei Ohtani, the year 2024 as a whole was nothing short of great. He joined the LA Dodgers for the 2024 season after signing a then-record-breaking historic 10-year contract worth $700 million.

Despite undergoing Tommy John surgery earlier in the year that restricted his pitching abilities, he played an important role with his bat in leading the Dodgers to World Series success. He also won the third MVP award of his career and the first in the National League (NL). Ohtani also managed to win the Silver Slugger Award in 2024.

And days before his baby announcement, he also won the AP's Male Athlete of the Year award for the third time in his career.

In his first season with the Dodgers he played 159 games, where he managed to hit .310/.390/.646. He became the first player to have 50 homers and 50 stolen bases in a single season as he finished with 54 homers and 59 stolen bases along with 130 RBIs.
