With the 2024 MLB season over, fans have their eyes set on major league award winners to be announced. Recently the league announced the list of NL Most Valuable Player Award finalists that includes Francisco Lindor, Ketel Marte and Shohei Ohtani.

The MVP winners are selected by a vote of the Baseball Writers' Association of America. Voting ballots are submitted before the postseason begins, and the voting is based on a weighted points system.

Major League Baseball fans were divided when MLB announced the MVP finalists on X/Twitter:

“Lindor wins by a mile,” one fan said.
“Ohtani would win in his sleep,” another fan said.
“We already know the winner,” another fan wrote.

Many fans argued about Lindor and Ohtani for MVP, with some praising Marte:

“Lindor was unbelievable and came up with big hit after big hit, but Ohtanis season was too historic to ignore,” one comment read.
“If you would’ve told me in march ketel marte would be an mvp finalist I would’ve laughed. Congrats,” another fan said.
“Ohtani hands down wins this. A 50/50 season warrants it. sorry Lindor but you're a 2nd place guy this year. if this didn't happen, definitely my vote would be for the award,” one fan wrote.

The MLB awards including the Cy Young Award and the Rookie of the Year Award winners will be announced next week on MLB Network. The MVP winners will be announced on Nov. 21.

Shohei Ohtani, Francisco Lindor and Ketel Marte are all coming off strong seasons with respective teams

Meanwhile, New York Mets shortstop Francisco Lindor batted .306 with a .368 on-base percentage. The four-time All-Star recorded 33 home runs, 91 RBIs, 39 doubles and 91 runs scored with the Mets.
