Tauchman's wife Eileen is pregnant and had an OBGYN appointment on Thursday. Following the win that night, Tauchman revealed the conversation he had with his wife. According to Eileen, Tauchman had walked it off on her previous OBGYN appointment on June 6 as well.

When Tauchman was made aware of this unique coincidence, he shared a hilarious statement in the postgame interview.

"My had an OBGYN appointment this morning andshe told me that the last walkoff we also had an appointment that morning, so I'm gonna start taking her to the doctor a lot," Mike Tauchman said with a chuckle.

Mike Tauchman also revealed that his wife gave him the green light to share that story following the absurd coincidence.

The Cardinals were seemingly running away with the game at Wrigley Field after a three-run blast in the seventh to take a 4-2 lead. However the Cubs fought back in the ninth with a three-run rally to complete a dramatic win.

The win had a stroke of genius from Cubs manager Craig Counsell who held back Pete Crow-Armstrong and sent Tauchman as a pinch-hitter. Despite falling behind the count initially, Tauchman delivered the winning hit to take the series opener.

“He made two really, really good pitches,” Tauchman said. “At that point, it's like, if it's close, you got to put a bat on it.”

Mike Tauchman was mobbed by his teammates after his walk-off hit, and his shirt was ripped during the celebrations. However, the veteran slugger didn't mind one bit and was glad to bail his team out in a tough game.

“It’s a great feeling,” Tauchman said. “You always want to come through for the team. We’ve battled a lot of adversity this year, and it’s no secret we’re not where we want to be right now."

The Cubs are still below the .500 mark and are last in the National League Central. However, things could turn around quickly in the wild card race if the Cubs could string together a few wins in the trot.

They will take inspiration from Mike Tauchman's walk-off hit when they take on the Cardinals in the second game of their series on Friday.
