New York Yankees captain Aaron Judge had a night to remember Wednesday as he hit his career's 300th home run and broke the records for the fastest to reach the milestone in terms of at-bats and games played. He received a lot of praise from his teammates and friends, including pitcher Carlos Rodon's wife Ashley.
As expected, social media was buzzing with people congratulating Judge. Carlos Rodon's wife Ashley posted an Instagram story with a two-worded caption appreciating the 32-year-old's prowess. She wrote:
"So deserving."
Ashley had previoulsy taken to social media to applaud Judge's achievements as well. In May, when the captain broke away from his slump and tied the MLB record for most home runs for the season, a lead that he has kept ever since, Rodon took to Twitter to show her support:
"It's good to be a Yankee."
Everyone who is a part of the Yankees organization expected Judge to reach his latest milestone soon. The game was fairly close till the seventh inning, with the White Sox in fact leading 2-1. A three-run seventh inning gave New York the impetus, which it capitalised on in the eight inning.
Aaron Judge hit his 300th home run after Juan Soto was intentionally walked by White Sox interim manager Grady Sizemore. On a 3-0 pitch and a 94 mph sinker by White Sox reliever Chad Kuhl, Judge hit a 361 feet home run to left field.
Aaron Judge breaks number of records in historic night
Aaron Judge became the fastest man to reach the milestone of 300 career home runs. He completed the feat in 955 games, which was way ahead of Hall of Famer Ralph Kilmer who reached his 300th homer in his 1,087th game. Another record that made the Bronx Bombers faithful happier was that Judge got there in 3,431 at-bats, exactly 400 at-bats ahead of the next fastest, Babe Ruth.
The Yankees travel to Detroit for a three-game series next and the team will be looking to consolidate its slender 0.5-game lead in the AL East over the Baltimore Orioles.
