LA Dodgers catcher Will Smith reached a milestone of his 100th career home run and helped his team run riots on the field and sweep the Mets for a third straight victory. On Wednesday, during the Dodgers' 10-3 win against the Mets, Smith had another multi-home run night. This took the count to three in the last two games for the 29-year-old star.
Following the game, his wife, Cara, took to social media to show her excitement for the newest milestone that her husband had surpassed. She shared a post of Smith's 100th HR record, along with a caption from her end expressing her pride for her husband's new achievement.
"So proud of you!!!" - Cara Smith wrote in her caption.
Will has been in good form so far this season. He has played 49 games in the 2024 regular season and has a batting average of .296 in 186 at-bats, an OPS of .876, nine home runs, and 36 RBI.
The team and its loyal supporters would hope that the catcher can keep this performance for the majority of the season.
Will Smith reacts to his newest record while helping his team sweep the Mets
The Dodgers were previously on a five-game losing streak. However, since Tuesday, the club appears to have regained its form, sweeping the Mets. Will Smith played a key role in this three-game series.
"That's a lot…it's awesome. Growing up, I never thought I would be in the situation [to hit] that many [home runs],” Smith said
Smith is an integral part of the team's present and future. Not too long ago, the Dodgers inked him to a $140 million 10-year contract earlier this year.
With his 100th homer, Will has etched his name alongside Mike Piazza, Steve Yeager, and Roy Campanella by joining the Dodgers' 100-home run club.
