Shohei Ohtani lauds Gavin Stone's nine-innings shutout performance

The Los Angeles Dodgers' $700 million star Shohei Ohtani has praised teammate Gavin Stone for his shutout performance against the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday. Stone was extraordinary last night. He pitched nine innings, conceding just four hits and no runs on them.

With the nine-innings shutout performance, Gavin Stone became the first player to achieve such a feat for the Dodgers since Walker Buehler in 2022.

In the post-game interview, Ohtani lauded Gavin Stone for his performance throughout the game.

"Spectacular. By the time you realise an inning, it's over. And he repeated that whole night long," Shohei Ohtani said about Stone's performance.

Dave Roberts praised Gavin Stone for his nine-innings shutout against White Sox

Following Wednesday's 4-0 win against the Chicago White Sox, Dodgers skipper Dave Roberts praised right-handed pitcher Gavin Stone for his stellar shutout performance. The manager seemed happy with the pitcher's performance and mentioned that it was fun to watch him on the mound facing the White Sox's hitters.

“He looked like the Bulldog tonight. That was really fun to watch. I think that you can sense a player that the game slows down when they can —pspecifically a starting pitcher — where they can focus on the game plan, executing, but also understand what’s around and what’s happening around them.”
“Today, we were coming into the game very short in the pen. And so, certainly, to be able to keep that in the back of your mind and know what's expected of you as a starter on that particular night, and then to still go out there and execute pitches and do what he did, was pretty special.”

Stone has had a pretty decent season so far. The pitcher has started 15 games in 2024, with a 9-2 record. He has an ERA of 2.73, a WHIP of 1.12 and 70 strikeouts. With pitchers like Walker Bauer and Yoshinobu Yamamoto sidelined with injuries, Stone is playing his part to fill those gaps in the Dodgers lineup with such heroic performances.
