With Pete Alonso's future in the MLB still uncertain, MLB sportscaster Evan Roberts has urged the New York Mets to re-sign the slugger to make their lineup more reliable.
After six major league seasons with the club, the "Polar Bear" is a free agent and is exploring his options. With the Mets signing Juan Soto, Roberts has urged them to add Alonso to their promising lineup.
As the Mets build a roster to compete for the World Series, they are on their way to assembling a formidable lineup. Considering his proven power and durability, Alonso could be a shrewd invesment.

"I see Lindor perfect as a leadoff spot, he excelled there last year," Roberts said. "I see Juan Soto prototypical number two hitter. Mark Vientos had a great year last year.
"Having Alonso back as that fourth big bat in this lineup gives you a little bit more certainty. Because even in a year like last year, where he wasn't particularly clutch, and he wasn't particularly great, he still went out there and hit 30 home runs."
Pete Alonso was drafted by the New York Mets in 2016 and made his MLB debut in 2019.
Since then, he has become one of the most reliable and powerful hitters in the country, winning several individual awards and making four All-Star appearances. Despite being below his usual high standards last year, the slugger still hit 34 home runs and recorded a .240 average.
UFC fighter Matt Frevola meets Pete Alonso and urges the Mets to bring him "home"
MLB free agent Pete Alonso, on Saturday's UFC event in Tampa, interacted with popular fighter Matt "The Steamrollaa" Frevola.
Hailing from Huntington, New York, Frevola is a huge New York Mets fan and posted a video of his interaction with Alonso, captioning it:
"Bring Pete home!!"
Frevola is among many Mets fans urging the front office to give Alonso the offer he desires. While they have publicly spoken of their desire to have him back, there haven't been any positive developments between the two sides.
