New York Mets owner Steve Cohen has heaped praise on manager Buck Showalter for the way he's molded his team.

Showalter is one of the sport's greatest managers. He has managed five different teams over the course of his three-decade-long managerial career. In just his first season with the Mets, he led the team to its first 100-win season since 1988.

In an exclusive conversation with MLB sportscaster Howie Rose on the Mets'd Up podcast, Steve Cohen said:

"The players love playing for him. I think he won some games for us last year with how he thinks about the game while it's happening. He prepares our ball players for all sorts of situations that I wouldn't even be able to think about or thought that was important. So we got a great guy. Players love him, fans love him. He fits my philosophy of best and brightest."

Showalter was recently presented with his fourth Manager of the Year award, quite fittingly, by Steve Cohen. On being asked about his communication with Showalter, Cohen said:

"Listen, I might have an idea I might throw up at Billy or have Billy talk to Buck on it. But, they do their thing. I am lucky enough that I was able to track someone of Buck's quality. He's a total professional."

Buck Showalter started his managerial career with the New York Yankees in 1992. He also had stints with Arizona Diamondbacks, Texas Rangers, and the Baltimore Orioles.

The 66-year-old has been awarded the MLB American League Manager of the Year three times. He won his first award with the New York Yankees in 1994. His second and third wins came with the Texas Rangers and the Baltimore Orioles in 2004 and 2014, respectively.

His Manager of the Year award with the New York Mets was his first in the National League. Mets fans will be hoping Showalter can guide the team to the World Series in the next three to five years. If it does happen, it would be the Mets' first World Series win since 1986 and the first of Showalter's career.
