Cleveland Guardians Steven Kwan was an instrumental part of the team's deep playoff run this year. The third-year outfielder was voted to start the 2024 All-Star Game and was awarded the AL Gold Glove after an impressive season.
In a recent Instagram story, Kwan took the time to heap praise on his Guardians teammate and fellow All-Star starter, Jose Ramirez. The latter has been the cornerstone of the franchise and was recently awarded with his fifth Silver Slugger trophy.
The Guardians outfielder placed a goat icon on top of Ramirez's picture to express his admiration for his teammate's sensational feat. Jose Ramirez first won the award in 2017 and has continued to win Silver Slugger Awards each year, except for three seasons.
Many analysts and baseball fans questioned the star third baseman's decision to re-sign with the Guardians for an additional five years worth $124 million ahead of the 2022 season, instead of pursuing a larger paycheck from a big-spending team.
However, his decision might now be paying dividends, as Cleveland made a gallant run in the postseason, going as far as the ALCS.
Steven Kwan bags Gold Glove Award for third-straight season
Guardians outfielder Steven Kwan started his major league career in 2022. Every year since his debut, he has won a Gold Glove Award. Considered one of the best defensive outfielders among the new crop of baseball stars, Kwan bagged another Gold Glove Award to make it three on the bounce.
"Steven Kwan has won a Gold Glove every single year as a Big Leaguer. He's something special, huh?" the Guardians posted.
The young outfielder's skill was on full display as he led the MLB with three double plays turned from the outfield. Kwan also had nine assists this year, just one shy from his career-high 10 from 2023.
In addition to his defense, Kwan was also productive at the plate posting a slash line of .292.368/.793 with 14 home runs and 44 RBIs.
