Max Muncy says he will be fully focused on the final two games of the regular season on the road against the Colorado Rockies even though the Los Angeles Dodgers have already secured the division title. The Dodgers third baseman wants to keep improving in various areas of the game after missing out for more than three months of the 2024 season due to a right oblique strain.
A two-time All-Star, Max Muncy has played nine years in the MLB, and he is presently in his seventh season with the Dodgers. The left-handed slugger was a key contributor for the Dodgers, who clinched the World Series title during the COVID-shortened 2020 campaign. Muncy has performed well at the plate this year, but he has played less than half the games for his team.
On Saturday afternoon, Max Muncy gave a short interview to Kirsten Watson of SportsNet LA before the Dodgers played the Rockies at Coors Field for the penultimate game of the regular season.

"Still trying to iron out some things," Muncy said. "I felt like I've been in a good spot, but I still think I could be in a better spot. I haven't quite got there yet since coming back."
"To have the day off yesterday, kind of [helped to] get readjusted," he added. "Come back out today and tomorrow. Get some work in. Be focused about it and just get ready for next week."
The Dodgers won the National League West title on Friday with an 11-4 victory over the Rockies, but Muncy was rested for the game.
"I try to keep everything the same" - Max Muncy

Following their 96th win of the season on Friday night, the LA Dodgers booked their 11th straight appearance in the NLDS, which will get underway next weekend.
However, Max Muncy is not looking ahead to that series just yet, as he wants to fully focus on the next two outings in the same way he treats an important game during the regular season.
"I try to keep everything the same," Muncy said. "I try to focus everyday. Focus on one pitch at a time, doing everything we can for that day."
"Obviously, at this point there are things in me that we need to be more conscious of," he added. "Maybe not bust out for that infield single. But it's just one of those things where I'm trying to focus on today and treat today like a game that's important, while being mindful of a couple of other things. But I am definitely not being lax about it."
So far, Max Muncy has played 71 games for the Dodgers this year. He is batting .230/.356/.491 at an OPS+ of 140, along with 46 RBIs and 30 extra-base hits, which include 15 home runs.
