Mookie Betts and the Los Angeles Dodgers were over cloud nine after they won the 2024 World Series, taking down the New York Yankees in five games. There were many special moments in the game like Freddie Freeman's heroics, homering in four straight World Series games and Walker Buehler getting into the prime version of himself but there were also some behind-the-scenes fights that Betts thinks also contributed.

Betts invited several of his championship teammates including Freddie Freeman, Walker Buehler, Max Muncy, and Gavin Lux to discuss the triumph on his podcast "On Base with Mookie Betts."

He disclosed the fact that how all of them orchestrated fights with their respective partners so that instead of traveling with them they get to travel with the team.

"You know, the wildest, best thing to me, from my perspective, was that after we won the World Series, we were so together. We all said, 'F*ck it, we’re just going to argue with our wives so we can ride back together.' You know what I’m saying? Like, that’s dope. That’s why we won the World Series," Betts said.

Mookie Betts emphasized that even during moments of celebration, they chose teams over their families, highlighting the brotherly bond they developed.

Dodgers ace Walker Buehler was having a forgettable 2024 season but he turned back the clock when it mattered the most. Buehler landed the final blow to the Yankees, pitching the ninth inning of Game 5 to seal the deal for the Dodgers. But the way he reached there involved lying to his pitching coach Mark Prior.

Upon being asked by Mookie Betts on what really happened in the lead up to that ninth that led to Dodgers giving Buehler the ball, he said:

"Mark called down and said, ‘What the f*ck are you doing down there?’ I said, ‘I told y’all I’ll be down here.’ He goes, ‘Have you thrown?’ I said, ‘Yeah, I’m fine.’”

Actually, Buehler lied saying he threw before coming into the ninth inning. However, it all panned out well, with the ace pitcher needing 16 pitches while striking out two en route to World Series triumph.
