On Friday, MLB legend Steve Sax talked about Shohei Ohtani and the Los Angeles Dodgers' season so far. According to Sax, this version of the Dodgers may be the best he's ever seen.

Winning titles with the Dodgers is something Steve Sax knows well. The California native played in the big leagues for 13 years, representing the Dodgers, New York Yankees, Chicago White Sox, and Oakland Athletics.

It was in Los Angeles that he won his two World Series titles. Along with that, Sax has plenty of other notable honors to his name as well, earning 5 All-Star nods, an NL Rookie of the Year Award, and a Silver Slugger Award.

Speaking to AM 570 LA Sports on October 18, Sax showered praise on the current Dodgers outfit, who have proven themselves to a strong contender to win the World Series in 2024.

"I'm not surprised that the Dodgers are beating them (Mets) down. Man, this is a good team. This might be the best Dodger team I've ever seen. I mean it. Think about it, look at all aspects, pitching, defense, power, panache, they've got all of it on this team," Sax said. [0:14]
"The best thing that the team has is its unity, and the team is really, really hungry in its raw sense. The team wants to win, really bad," Sax added. [0:38]

Shohei Ohtani hits home run, Dodgers get closer to the World Series

The Los Angeles Dodgers resoundingly beat the New York Mets, 10-2, on Thursday, in the fourth game of the NLCS at Citi Field. With the win, the Dodgers now find themselves on the cusp of qualification for the World Series for the first time since 2020, which is also when they last won the title.

After slightly struggling for production against the San Diego Padres in his first ever postseason series, Shohei Ohtani has well and truly come to the party.

The 30-year-old hit his second home run in two days on Thursday, this time a leadoff blast in the top of the first inning to give his team the perfect start.

Ohtani wasn't the only Dodgers player who had a great day with the bat on Thursday. Four RBI from Mookie Betts, including a home run, three RBI from Tommy Edman, and one each from Enrique Hernandez and Will Smith made for a very comfortable evening for the visitors.

With Shohei Ohtani and co. coming into their own at the perfect time in the campaign, Dodgers fans will be hoping their side can repeat the trick one more time and seal qualification to the World Series.
