Fans reacted as the Philadelphia Phillies registered an extra-inning victory against the Washington Nationals on Saturday. The Phillies have won eight of their last 10 regular-season series this year and sit atop the NL East with a 33-14 record and a commendable .702 win percentage.
In game 2 of a three-game series against the Nationals, the Phillies came from behind three times to seal the win in the bottom of the tenth.
That came about thanks to a Bryce Harper scarifice fly as the Citizens Bank Park erupted with joy, celebrating another gritty regular-season win for Phialdelphia this year.
Phillies fans were in pure ecstasy as they took to X formerly Twitter to voice their appreciation. Here are some of the reactions:
"THE BOYS ARE BUZZIN," commented one."
"This team just doesn’t die," commented another fan
"Best team in baseball," commented yet another fan
Bryson Stott and Kody Clemens came up big for the Phillies against the Nationals. Stott's groundout in the fourth inning resulted in a double play, but he drove in Alec Bohm to tie the contest at 1-1.
In the bottom of the seventh inning, Bryson Stott hit a solo shot, which helped tie the game once again at 2-2.
However, the biggest hit of the night, besides the sac fly walk off by Bryce Harper, came from pinch hitter Kody Clemens, who blasted a towering solo bomb in the center field. That helped Philadelphia take the contest into extra innings.
Fans appreciated Kody Clemens' amazing cluth hit and praised his effort on the home plate.
"Kody with the clutch," commented one fan
"Keep Kody on the roster no matter what," another fan commented
"I love their fight. Damn, clutch," yet another fan commented
The Philadelphia Phillies will look to sweep the Nationals on Sunday
The Phillies will start Aaron Nola on the mound in the series finale against the Nationals on Sunday at home at Citizens Bank Park. Nola is coming off throwing a complete shutout game against the NY Mets and is 5-2 for the season with a 3.10 ERA and 1.09 WHIP.
Philadelphia will be confident with Nola's pitching arsenal, but they will be up against the Nationals' Trevor Williams, who is 4-0 this season with a 1.94 ERA and 1.06 WHIP.
So, it should be a thrilling series finale between the two, as Philadelphia will hope for a sweep, while Washington will look to avoid one.
