After defeating the New York Yankees 9-7 in the first game of their Subway Series, the New York Mets began the final game of the series at Citi Field on Wednesday. Mets fans were excited, given the team's recent upward performance.

Grimace, a fictional McDonald's character, threw the first pitch at a game on June 12. Since then, the New York Mets have experienced a positive turnaround in their season. The Mets improved significantly, winning 10 of their last 12 games.

Mets fans have been seen dressing up as Grimace at games and chanting his name, adding to the fun atmosphere around the team.

During Wednesday’s game, a similar incident occurred when the game was interrupted by rain during the fifth inning. A fan dressed as Grimace was spotted guzzling a beer on Shea Bridge, while many nearby fans recorded the moment on their phones.

Several fans shared their reactions to the incident.

“Mets fans are cultured,” a fan said.
"The hero Gotham deserves," another fan said.
“This got to be the best one yet,” another fan wrote.

Many other fans asked about the Grimace shake.

“When’s his milkshake available again at McDonalds?” a comment reads.
“If McDonalds doesn’t bring back the Grimace shake in New York their entire marketing and sales teams should be immediately fired,” another comment reads.
“Man he can’t even afford McDonald’s anymore bruh getting free beers for chugging dem down,” someone wrote.

The 'Grimace effect' seemed to have continued, as the game ended with the New York Mets defeating the New York Yankees to claim a series win.

Mets excelled offensively winning 12-2 against the Yankees

The New York Mets won the final game of their Subway Series 12-2 against their city rivals. They took the lead in the third inning on J.D. Martinez’s RBI single and Francisco Alvarez’s two-run homer on a three-run burst.

The Mets' offense added four more runs in the fifth inning. In the sixth inning, Tyrone Taylor hit a 396-foot homer, his third of the season, scoring three runs. Harrison Bader also hit a 394-foot homer in the seventh inning, bringing in a run. Mark Vientos’ single in the eighth inning set the final score of the game.

The New York Mets (39-39) are third in the NL East and will start a three-game series with the Houston Astros on Friday at Citi Field.
