Aaron Judge hit his 48th home run of the season as the New York Yankees achieved a 6-0 victory over the Cleveland Guardians on Thursday. The Yankees captain is on pace for another unprecedented season with projections of 60 home runs or more with 34 games left.

Aaron Judge struck a 2-1, 91 mph change up to right field to open the scoring against the Guardians. The Yanks piled on some more runs on the back of a three-run home run by Giancarlo Stanton and sacrifice fly off the bats of Ben Rice and Austin Wells.

Judge's solo shot was the fourth time he went yard in the series against the Guardians. He is on pace for 61 home runs and If he can match that projection over the next month, he will come close to his American League record of 62 home runs in a season. In 2022, he displaced another Yankees legend, Roger Maris who had hit 61 home runs in 1961 to achieve the feat.

Albert Pujols, a former 11-time All-Star and three-time MVP, working as an analyst on the MLB Network, spoke about how the 31-year-old has evolved his game to a place where he can hit home runs in every ballpark in the MLB.

"He uses the whole field. When you see a power hitter like that you think 'Okay, he's just a pull guy'. He hits the ball all over the park. There is no ballpark on this earth that can hold this guy," Pujols said about Judge.

Aaron Boone doesn't want Aaron Judge to be feeling pressure

Individual accolades for Aaron Judge or Juan Soto aside, the Yankees are hoping to stay strong as a team. When asked about Judge trying to break his own record, manager Aaron Boone questioned if the discussions have to begin this early. However, just like anyone else, even he couldn't dismiss it entirely.

“No, do we really have to start talking about that? But I guess we’re on the ‘on-pace’ portion of the season. Look, anything is possible with him," Boone said.

The Yankees will face the Colorado Rockies over the weekend, as they also hold their special Old Timer's Day on the 24th. This year the 2009 World Series winning roster is invited for the 15th anniversary celebration of their triumph.
