Dave Roberts wasn't content after the Los Angeles Dodgers' performance against the Detroit Tigers in the second game of the ongoing series. The Dodgers lost by a margin of two scores as the scoreboard stood at 11-9, which seemed quite impossible for the Tigers at one point.

In the ninth inning, the Dodgers had a 9-4 lead, which had made them confident about their victory; however, things turned around. The Tigers managed to cover the lead in the bottom ninth and tied the score. However, they hit the nail in the coffin with two points in the 10th inning, thus splitting the series.

Dave Roberts was disappointed by such a play from his team, he couldn't believe that such a blunder was possible by the Dodgers.

“It’s not us. It doesn't happen,” Roberts said to the media, “It certainly happened today,” according to SportsNet LA on X.
“We had a five-run lead and there's just no excuse for us losing that game. We’ve just gotta be better," Roberts added.

Even though they're still leading the National League West division, the Dodgers have been going through a bad phase. They have lost five games in the last six, and their series opener against the Tigers was the skid-breaker for them. So, it's to be seen if the Dodgers will be able to win the series or not.

Dave Roberts gives Yoshinobu Yamamoto injury update

The Los Angeles Dodgers' pitcher, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, appears to be nearing a return. He was sidelined with a right rotator cuff strain since mid-June and seemed to have progressed well in his rehab program.

According to manager Dave Roberts, Yamamoto has thrown pain-free for the past week, reaching a distance of 60 feet during his catch sessions.

"Yamamoto’s thrown twice this past week," Roberts stated. "He’s played catch out to 60 feet twice, and he’s supposed to play catch [Saturday]. There’s been no soreness, no pain. So he’s in a good spot."

He has been throwing pain-free from a distance of 60 feet, a significant milestone in his recovery program. Before his IL stint, Yamamoto established himself as a star player, boasting a 2.92 ERA and 84 strikeouts across 14 starts and 74 innings.

As of now, Roberts hasn't given any specific date, but it seems that such good news could actually be directed toward the return of Yoshinobu Yamamoto. It seems that the fans could see Yamamoto working his magic on the field by August of this season.
