White Sox fired manager Pedro Grifol, Grady Sizemore becomes interim manager

Last week, the Chicago White Sox fired their manager, Pedro Grifol, who finished his first season with a record of 61-101. In an official statement posted on social media announcing the news, White Sox senior vice president and general manager Chris Getz said:

"As we all recognize, our team’s performance this season has been disappointing on many levels. Despite the on-field struggles and lack of success, we appreciate the effort and professionalism Pedro and the staff brought to the ballpark every day. These two seasons have been very challenging. Unfortunately, the results were not there, and a change is necessary as we look to our future and the development of a new energy around the team."

Along with Grifol, the White Sox fired bench coach Charlie Montoyo, third-base/infield coach Eddie Rodriguez, and assistant hitting coach Mike Tosar. Former outfielder Grady Sizemore will serve as the interim manager of the team for the rest of the season.
