Aaron Boone and his squad are coming off a tough 2-1 loss against the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Yankees missed several opportunities as the game extended into an extra-innings battle. Yankees fans were on their feet in an intense game that took place in the Bronx.

Despite their hard fight, the Yankees' offense failed to score more than one run against the dominant Dodgers' pitching staff. Anthony Rizzo has been experiencing a hitting slump, and his last flyout against the Dodgers sealed their defeat.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone shed light on Rizzo's performance in a postgame interview on Yes Network. Boone said that Rizzo had some tough pitches thrown against him and hopes for him to improve.

"They kinda pitched him a little bit differently each time. Saw a lot of secondary stuff. Tonight they pitched him pretty tough. Just gotta get on time a little bit better and hopefully take off from there," Boone said.

Boone further talked about Gleyber Torres and his fielding mishap during the third inning. Torres dropped an easy flyball from Kike Hernandez. However, the Yankees manager extended his support to the second baseman.

"He's a good as a popup catcher as we've had. I get how it looks sometimes with Gleyber. Reality is the last month he's played really good defense. You gotta pass it out a little bit and see what actually is happening in the reality as the last month of defense for him," Aaron Boone continued.

Aaron Boone praises Yoshinobu Yamamoto's performance

Boone shared a few words when asked about Yoshinobu Yamamoto's performance. The 51-year-old said it was a great ball game and there was a lot of good pitching from both sides.

"Looked like he was throwing really hard and he commanded it. He was really tough honest tonight and had a big role in them winning the ball game," Boone reflected on Yamamoto.

Boone also shed light on Cody Poteet, praising him for executing the right pitches. When asked about Juan Soto, Boone said that he was just feeling the moment and was not going to hit.

The Yankees lost their 20th game this season, but won 45 and continue to lead the American League with the best record.
