Fans reacted as the Philadelphia Phillies beat the New York Mets 7-6 in Game 2 of their best-of-five series in the NLDS on Sunday at Citizens Bank Park. The Phillies were coming off a 6-2 defeat to the Mets in the series opener.
Following a slow start to the game, resulting in several scoreless innings, Phillies fans were unhappy with their team’s performance. They began booing during every at-bat of their players, including Nick Castellanos.
The Phillies bounced back in the sixth inning when Bryce Harper hit a 431-foot homer, scoring two runs. Shortly after, Castellanos hit a 425-foot solo homer, tying the score at 3-3.
Fans on X reacted to a clip of fans booing during Nick Castellanos’ at-bats before the two-time All-Star got heated.
“They're actually the worst fans in baseball,” a fan said.
“That’s our problem it’s not the team I’m starting to think it’s Philly as a whole we lose one game yall give up give them boys some faith,” another fan said.
“I despise the phony Phillies fans they were booing more than Castellanos. To boo their team at home is unforgivable,” another fan wrote.
Other fans continued to share their views, with some asking about the crowd after Castellanos’ stellar outing.

“It’s only game 2 of the playoffs for him. tell them to settle down and be patient,” another comment reads.

The Philadelphia Phillies scored three runs in the eighth inning when Bryson Stott hit a triple and J.T. Realmuto reached on a fielder's choice. The Mets tied the game in the ninth inning. In the ninth inning, Nick Castellanos hit a single that brought in a run, securing the victory.

The Philadelphia Phillies' offense recorded 10 hits on 36 at-bats, scoring seven runs and seven RBIs, with three walks and 11 strikeouts. Discussing the team’s bounce-back victory after a tough start to the game, manager Rob Thomson said:
“They have a slow heartbeat & they understand situations & they just keep battling. It's a very resilient club. … they're not going to quit. This is shaping up to be a classic battle.”
After splitting the first two games of their series, the Phillies and the Mets face each other again at Citi Field on Tuesday.
