The Dodgers took a 2-0 lead in the World Series on Saturday with a solid performance from their pitching staff and some flashy offense. The series now moves to New York for the next three games with the Yankees hoping to script a comeback.

Dodgers were on the money from the get-go against Yankees starter Carlos Rodon. NLCS MVP Tommy Edman hit a solo home run in the bottom of the second inning to start the scoring.

In the next inning, with a runner on base, Teoscar Hernandez struck a two-run bomb. The Dodgers weren't done as Freddie Freeman, riding the high from his walk-off home run on Friday, hit a solo home run in the next at-bat.

That was the last action of the day for Rodon who earned the loss after just 3.1 innings of pitching. Juan Soto had earlier opened the scoring for the Yanks with a solo home run against Yoshinobu Yamamoto.

But that was the only hit earned by Yamamoto as the Dodgers starter went unharmed, pitching 6.1 innings of one-run ball. There was some traffic in the top of the ninth, with the Yankees scoring a run, but the LA bullpen closed out the game for the win.

Speaking after the game, Dodgers superstar outfielder Mookie Betts feels that the New York crowd at Yankee Stadium will be hot and ready to cheer on their team with full force.

"It feels great but playing in New York, you know what it's like. So they're going to come and they're going to be ready to hit us in the mouth. But we'll be ready to go,"- Betts said.

Aaron Boone determined to make it a 'long series'

Yankees manager Aaron Boone is set on the fact that the World Series isn't lost yet. His team will want to pick a few wins of their own and take the series deep.

"No one said it's going to be easy," -Boone said. "It's a long series, and we need to make it a long series now. We won't flinch."

Boone's tactics on Friday came under fire when he opted to go with Nestor Cortes Jr., who had not pitched in 37 days, out of the bullpen to pitch in the tenth inning. Cortes ended up giving up the walk-off home run to Freeman.

The Yankees will have to come out all guns blazing as only 11 teams in the past have won the Fall Classic after going 2-0 behind.
