NY Yankees shortstop Anthony Volpe didn't hold back while voicing praise for captain Aaron Judge and RF Juan Soto's continued hot streak in the big leagues as the top-performing duo this season.
The Bronx Bombers are 39-19 for the season and sit atop the AL East standings, crediting an all-around team performance, but most importantly, a revitalized offense has helped the bullpen protect the leads and win games for the Yanks.
Anthony Volpe has been flourishing at the lead-off spot for the Yankees, but the next two in line after him, Juan Soto and Aaron Judge, have been simply brilliant with their at-bats and plate discipline this season. Volpe praised the duo in the big leagues and what it feels like to hit ahead of them in the lineup.
"They are the two best hitters in the world." - Anthony Volpe
The barrel leaderboard by MLB Statcast showcases how Yankees captain Aaron Judge is in a whole other league by himself. He has registered 30 barrel hits this season, 12 ahead of second-placed Corey Seager and 13 more than teammate and Bombers in-fielder Juan Soto.
A barreled hit is said to be a baseball hit with an exit velocity of 98 mph or more and a launch angle between 26 and 30 degrees. The top three hitters in the Bombers lineup have all OPS above .800, Anthony Volpe stands at the least amongst the three with .800. Juan Soto has an OPS of .999 and captain Aaron Judge has an OPS of 1.020.
These are staggering offensive numbers for a unit that failed to score runs consistently last season and thereby failed to claim a wildcard spot last year in the postseason.
Juan Soto and Aaron Judge dominate the offensive stats for the NY Yankees in 2024
The Bronx Bombers not only lead the AL East standings but the entire American League with a 39-19 record and a healthy .672 win percentage this season. Juan Soto and Aaron Judge are one of the biggest reason for the Yanks' amazing record this season as they have dominated the offensive stats for the ballclub.
Judge leads the organization in home runs (18) and OPS (1.020), while Soto leads in BA (.312), RBIs (49), and hits (69). The NY Yankees sealed another win on Thursday as they took down the LA Angels in the series finale at Angel Stadium. It's safe to say the Yanks have a deep postseason run on the cards, provided their star duo keeps up with their hot hitting streak in 2024.
