On Thursday, Detroit Tigers rising star Justyn-Henry Malloy and his girlfriend, Waleiny Brown, were spotted in the front row at the Little Ceasers Arena, as they turned up to cheer on the Detroit Pistons as they took on the Indiana Pacers in the NBA.

Though the game turned out to be a high-scoring one, it ended on a disappointing note for the home team fans, as the Pacers won 111-100. Trailing by 13 points at halftime, the Pistons never managed to recover and make a comeback.

The three-time NBA champions have endured a tough season so far, struggling to find consistency. They currently sit ninth in the Eastern Conference standings with a record of 21-20. Their opponents, the Indiana Pacers, have fared slightly better, and are currently on the sixth spot with a 23-19 record.

Justyn-Henry Malloy looks to build on impressive rookie season

Initially drafted by the Atlanta Braves in the 2021 MLB Draft, Justyn-Henry Malloy was traded to Detroit in a deal that sent pitcher Joe Jimenez to Atlanta. After impressing for the Toledo Mud Hens, the Tigers' triple-A affiliate, Malloy made his major league debut on June 3, 2024.

As fate would have it, Malloy got the perfect start to his big league career, with his very first hit going out of the ballpark against Jose Urena of the Texas Rangers. Nearly a month later, Justyn-Henry Malloy also went on to record an inside-the-park home run against the Los Angeles Angels, showcasing that he has plenty of athleticism to match his hitting ability.

Malloy also experienced the highs and lows of postseason baseball in his very first season in the big leagues, as the Detroit Tigers qualified for the playoffs after finishing third in the AL wildcard. Facing powerhouse Houston Astros in the wildcard series, the Tigers pulled off an upset of sorts, in turn securing qualification for the ALDS. However, their run ultimately came to a heartbreaking end, as the Cleveland Guardians beat them 3-2 in a nailbiter of a series.
