As every team in MLB gets set to commence a weekend series on Friday, pitching, as usual, will occupy center stage. Although all teams will be hoping for strikeouts, some are expected to trot out aces who make a habit of sitting down batters before they even leave the box.
Here's a closer look at the top arms in action around MLB, and profiling their odds of putting together multiple K's.
Top MLB Strikeout Prop Bets for July 5
#1. Paul Skenes Over 7.5 -145
Rookie ace Paul Skenes is making Pittsburgh Pirates fans wonder why he was not called up from Triple-A sooner. Over his past four starts, Skenes has allowed just three earned runs, while striking out 32 batters over the course of 25 innings.

Owing to his spectacular, strikeout-centric play, the 21-year-old has -145 odds to record over 7.5 strikeouts as he gets the start against the Mets on Friday.
#2. Tanner Bibee Over 6.5 -135
On June 12, Cleveland Guardians pitcher Tanner Bibee set a career record in strikeouts, fanning 11 members of the Reds. In his next start on June 19, he once again set a personal best, striking out 12 Seattle Mariners players.

Bibee's forty strikeouts over the past month are second only to the Chicago White Sox' Garrett Crochet over that period. Bibee will get the start on Friday as the Guardians welcome the Giants to Progressive Field.
#3. Cole Ragans Under 7.5 -110
Although Cole Ragans has struggled to a 5.06 ERA since June 20, the Kansas City Royals pitcher has shown an ability to log the K's. In addition to leading his club with 37 strikeouts, Ragans came within one of tying his career number of 12 on June 24 against the Miami Marlins. The fact that Ragans will play the Rockies, whose 822 strikeouts lead the NL, will not hurt his odds either.
#4. Kevin Gausman Over 6.5 -166
After posting an AL-best 237 strikeouts last season, 2024 has been a more significant struggle for Kevin Gausman. The Toronto Blue Jays right-hander is now 6-7 with a 4.75 ERA. However, owing to his tremendous use of breaking pitches – particularly his splitter – Gausman remains one of MLB's more elusive arms.

Although he only lasted 4.1 innings in his last start against the New York Yankees, Gausman still struck out seven. Additionally, Gausman boasts an impressive 61 strikeouts in 10 games against the Mariners, who will serve as the Jays' hosts on Friday night.
#5. Tyler Glasnow Under 7.5 -120
Los Angeles Dodgers ace Tyler Glasnow continues to lead the National League in strikeouts with 136. Though he only lasted three innings in his last start against the Giants, the 30-year-old recorded 31 strikeouts across 20 innings in his three prior starts.
Glasnow also leads MLB in strikeouts per nine innings, touting a figure of 11.9. The 6-foot-8 ace will get the ball as the Dodgers take on the Brewers, who he has not seen a lot of in his career.
