The Toronto Blue Jays and Bo Bichette have agreed to a new contract. The young shortstop will earn $33.6 million over the next three years. He also has incentives that could up the value of his contract to $40.65 million.

Last season, Bichette led the American League in hits for the second time in his short four-year career. He hit .290/.333/.469 with 24 home runs. He saw a career-high in doubles (43) as he saw the ball really well.

This was Bichette's first year in arbitration, and the deal covers the rest of his arbitration eligibility. The contract, however, has no bearing on the team's club control. Bichette is set to become a free agent after the 2025 season.

Bichette was the final Toronto player on the arbitration list. The Blue Jays are done with arbitration talks now that the two sides have reached an agreement.

With the two sides settled, they can avoid an arbitration hearing, which is often awkward for both parties. Bichette and the front office can now focus on being the best team they can be for the 2023 season.

While the team made the playoffs last year, it ended up being a disappointing season. The Seattle Mariners took them out in the Wild Card round. It was a bitter end to a season where they saw themselves as contenders.

Toronto will have its hands full this season in the American League East. The New York Yankees got better with the addition of Carlos Rodon. Rodon has been lights out for the last two seasons. He's grown into one of the best pitchers in the league.

Toronto will also have to watch out for the Baltimore Orioles. They built a ton of momentum last season with the debuts of their young prospects. Adley Rutschman looked more like a seasoned veteran than a rookie last season.

The Al East will be a fun division to watch this season. We'll have to wait and see if Bo Bichette and the Toronto Blue Jays have enough talent to take down their rivals.
