After a brief one-year stay in Mexico, Trevor Bauer will be heading back to Japan. He will reportedly re-sign with the Yokohoma DeNA Baystars for 2025 as the NPB team looks to become repeat Japan Series winners.

Trevor Bauer's first stint with the Baystars came in 2023 after he was released by the Los Angeles Dodgers. After 10 seasons in the MLB, the 2020 Cy Young winner was suspended and put on administrative leave in 2021. Even after being reinstated, the Dodgers didn't continue with his services, and the starter ended up in Japan.

Bauer pitched to a 10-4, 2.76 ERA record in 19 games as Yokohama finished third in the Central League and ousted in the Climax Series in the playoffs. His contract was worth $4 million and had incentives.

Bauer chose not to return to Japan and instead signed with Mexico's most successful team, the Diablos Rojas, for 2024. In 83.1 innings pitched last season, the 34-year-old won 10 games and pitched to a 2.48 ERA and also won the title while being adjudged the best pitcher in the league.

Trevor Bauer opened up about losing nearly $400 million worth contracts in MLB

Before the domestic abuse allegations emerged around Trevor Bauer, he was signed to the Dodgers for a three-year $102 million contract.

Being put on administrative leave in July 2021, he wouldn't return for the 2022 season and missed out on the promised sum and a bigger future contract, considering he was healthy. He spoke about it on the The Wealthy Way podcast last week.

"I didn't get paid 37 and a half (million dollars) from the Dodgers," Bauer said.
"At the time I was earning an average annual value of $42 and a half million a year. And I had 10 more years where I could pitch at a high level. Not including inflation, probably 300 or 400 (million) in future career earnings that I don't have a chance to earn now." [0-7:00]

In 10 seasons in MLB with Arizona, Cleveland, Cincinnati and Los Angeles, Bauer compiled a 83-69, 3.79 ERA record. While he seemingly won't receive a lucrative contract in the MLB anymore, Bauer will hope to perform well in Japan and lead Yokohama to another title run.
