Former Cy Young winner Trevor Bauer tasted success in the postseason with his Mexican league team Diablos Rojos del México. Diablos Rojos defeated the Sultanes de Monterrey for the championship earlier this month.
Following his success, the former Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher has amped up his off-field activities. Trevor Bauer visited the Fox Sports studio this week and his agent Rachel Luba shared behind-the-scenes pictures from his visit.
She shared a picture of Bauer next to a TV screen showing the NFL game between the Cincinnati Bengals and the New England Patriots. Luba also gave a glimpse of the Super Bowl and World Series trophies at the studio.
Last week, Rachel Luba shared that the former MLB pitcher had to overcome several issues during his successful stint with the Diablos Rojos which was only meant for five games initially.
"Seeing @baueroutage both overcome a terrifying illness and partial paralysis, as well as manage to dominate this season at the most difficult ballpark in the world to pitch in was truly something remarkable. But seeing him fall in love with baseball again after it broke his heart in so many ways—was truly something special."
Trevor Bauer reveals rare diagnosis during successful season in Mexico
Trevor Bauer touched upon his health scare in a YouTube video. He revealed that he was diagnosed with a rare neurological disorder, Guillain-Barré syndrome. As a result of the disorder, Bauer felt numbness in his legs and was unsure about his baseball future leading up to the playoffs for the Diablos Rojos.
"For as fun as the celebration was, it was also a bit sad for me because my legs were partially a bit paralyzed, I basically had no strength below my knees and I wasn't sure if I was ever going to play baseball again [3:57]," Bauer said.
However, the former MLB All-Star recovered in time as he underwent blood transfusions. Bauer was thankful that the team discovered his condition at an early stage, which helped in his recovery and swift return to the mound before the crucial games in the postseason.
