Former Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Trevor Bauer has earned praise from his agent Rachel Luba after a successful first season with the Diablos Rojos del Mexico. The veteran hurler, who played a crucial role in his team's championship run this season, was named the pitcher of the year in the Mexican League on Friday.
Luba, who has been one of the biggest supporters of the former MLB pitcher, showed appreciation for the Diablos Rojos pitcher on X, formerly Twitter.
"Congrats on winning Pitcher of the Year@BauerOutage," she wrote.
Rachel Luba also shared posts in her Instagram stories to commemorate the veteran ace.
Trevor Bauer, who had initially signed for just five games with the Diablos Rojos, set several records after his stint was extended for the entire season. The former Cy Young winner set the record for most strikeouts in a game, after 19 strikeouts against the Oaxaca Guerreros on June 21.
His strong outing for the Rojos in the postseason helped the team to the championship. Bauer garnered 94 votes from the committee, winning the Pitcher of the Year accolade with a landslide, as the pitcher in second place, David Reyes, managed just seven votes.
Rachel Luba bids farewell to Oakland Coliseum after A's last home game
While Rachel Luba has been campaigning for Trevor Bauer's return to the major league, MLB teams have continued to snub the veteran hurler due to his controversial past.
Despite being ingored by MLB teams in the offseason, Luba penned a hearfelt post after the Oakland Athletics played at their ballpark, the Oakland Coliseum, for the very last time on Thursday.
"The end of an era 💚💛🏟️⚾️ Thanks for the mems, Oakland Coliseum," Luba wrote in the post showcasing her in the stands at the Colliseum.
Trevor Bauer hasn't pitched in the MLB in nearly three years, playing a year in Japan before joining the Diablos Rojos earlier this year. However, a strong campaign in the Mexican League might make major league teams look past his controversial history.
While Bauer might not play as a starter, with the rise in pitching injuries this season, the 33-year-old could be a handy option in the rotation.
