Former Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Trevor Bauer sarcastically reacted to controversial pitcher Domingo German's MLB return on Friday. German made his major league return with the Pittsburg Pirates against Bauer's former team, the Dodgers, at Dodger Stadium.

Trevor Bauer last pitched in the major league in 2021 and has been pitching in the Mexican League for the Diablos Rojos del Mexico since March. However, he hasn't given up hopes of returning to MLB and has been regularly advocating for his return via social media.

The news of veteran pitcher Domingo German signing a deal with the Pirates, despite his controversial past, evoked a reaction from Bauer:

"Lol"

German was suspended by the MLB in 2019 for violating the league’s domestic violence policy. The 32-year-old Dominican pitcher was accused of slapping his then-girlfriend at a charity event.

The Pirates selected his contract from Triple-A Indianapolis on Friday after the Yankees had cut ties with him last year following a clubhouse controversy with manager Aaron Boone.

The former New York Yankees pitcher played in the MLB for the first time in over a year after pitching four innings for the Pirates on Friday. He allowed two runs over one hit and struck out three after relieving a struggling Mitch Keller who gave seven runs in a 9-5 loss.

MLB continues to ignore Trevor Bauer

Like Domingo German, Trevor Bauer was also suspended by the league for violation of the league's Joint Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Policy in 2022.

However, Bauer was suspended for a record 324 games in light of sexual assault allegations. The then-Dodgers pitcher and former Cy Young winner agreed a one-year deal with Nippon Professional Baseball team Yokohama DeNA BayStars after being shunned by the MLB.

While the accusations against Bauer were settled outside court in 2023, the league hasn't shown any interest in giving the former Dodgers pitcher a second chance. Despite Bauer being willing to take a salary cut to play, MLB teams turned a blind eye to the veteran pitcher in the offseason.
