Mookie Betts and the Los Angeles Dodgers are enjoying their World Series parade on Friday. It was jam-packed with die-hard fans celebrating their favorite team's eighth World Series title.
This is now Betts' second title in LA and the third of his career. He won one back with the Boston Red Sox in 2018, and two with the Blue Crew. Betts now has the most rings among active players.
However, if you thought he would be happy with three, then you are wrong. He has some bold claims that he laid out in front of the fans at Dodger Stadium.
"When I became a Dodger, it was for, what 12 or 13 years? It was a lot of years and we got two so far. We got like 8-9 years left, I got to get to at least five or six," said Betts.
Betts is eyeing a few more World Series wins before his contract expires. With the way his team is stacked up for the next few years, that is certainly within the realm of possibilities.
"I just want to thank each and every one of y'all for coming out and supporting us, and to my teammates, y'all don't know how much y'all mean to me, man. I love you guys," said Betts.
"I got three.. I'm trying to fill this hand up L.A." said Betts.
Mookie Betts and the Dodgers are favorites to hoist WS trophy again in 2025
Mookie Betts and the Dodgers were named World Series champs before they even played a game this season. They had a great offseason, signing players like Shohei Ohtani, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Teoscar Hernandez and more.
Ohtani is expected to return to the mound next season, which should help if the club loses some starters. They have a few pitching free agents like Jack Flaherty and Walker Buehler who will be on the open market.
Despite that, they are still the early-season favorites to win it all next year. According to FanDuel, they have the best odds of hoisting the trophy in 2025.
It could be another series against the New York Yankees with how sportsbooks have laid out their odds. However, that would be dependent on just what the Bronx Bombers do over the offseason. With Juan Soto a free agent now, it would be a big blow to the club if he were to sign somewhere else.
