Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts has revealed that Tyler Glasnow is no longer with the team after reports surfaced that he had cleaned out his locker. Glasnow is on the 15-day IL due to a sprained right elbow, with increasing fears that he will play no further part this year. Roberts has said that he is unaware of the present whereabouts of the Dodgers ace.
Tyler Glasnow last pitched on Aug. 11 against the Pittsburgh Pirates, giving up two runs from five hits and a walk. He registered four strikeouts in seven innings. The 31-year-old was later placed on the IL after missing his next scheduled start, although he was expected to return earlier this month.
However, the rehab did not progress as hoped, and Glasnow may be shut down for the rest of the year.
According to Dodgers beat writer Bill Plunkett, manager Dave Roberts said Tyler Glasnow is not staying with the team right now.
"I don’t know where he flew to. But he’s not with the team, no," Roberts said.
As per reports, Glasnow had avoided speaking to the media over the past couple of days.
Injuries continue to haunt Tyler Glasnow
The Los Angeles Dodgers traded for Tyler Glasnow from the Tampa Bay Rays in the previous offseason before signing him to a five-year, $136.5 million deal. The right-handed starting pitcher was excellent on the mound and earned his maiden All-Star Game appearance this year.
Nevertheless, Glasnow has been constantly dogged by injuries throughout his career, and it has not been much different this season. Although Glasnow has produced his best MLB campaign in 2024, he has also gone through a few spells on the treatment table.
If Glasnow doesn't play any further part this season, he will finish his first year for the Dodgers with a 9-6 record, a 3.49 ERA and a 0.948 WHIP. He has logged 23 starts, with 134 innings and 168 strikeouts, all career-high marks for the hard-throwing right-hander.
Glasnow would have been expected to make a big impact for the Dodgers in the postseason, so getting ruled out is a massive blow.
