The Philadelphia Phillies are going through a rough stretch since the All-Star break. Phillies' performance has dropped drastically and they recently suffered a loss to their NL East rivals, having lost the three-game series against the Atlanta Braves this week.
While they look forward to picking up the reigns to make up for their loss, some of their top hitters struggled to score from the plate. Bryce Harper, Kyle Schwarber, and Trea Turner had one of their worst performances against the Braves.
Harper, Schwarber and Turner went 2-for-33 with 14 strikeouts as the Braves pitching squad dominated. The Phillies managed to win the 2nd game but their top players underperformed and fans were unhappy with their slump, especially against their NL East rival.
The Phillies Tailgate shared the trio's combined stats against the Braves and fans couldn't help but respond with their thoughts.
Here's a look at some of the fan reactions on X.
"Unacceptable considering how much they get paid. If it was one series, then alright they had a bad week. If it was 1 week? Oh well it’s alright they’re in a slump… but it’s been a whole month. Seriously what is happening with these guys," one fan said.
"They need to do a change in the lineup, this cant continue," another fan said.
Comments continued to flow as fans called out the team for their series loss.
"And all 14 strike outs were from Harper and Schwarber," one fan said.
"I’m tired of hearing they will turn it around. Something needs to be done. Break them up. Move them from their positions in the lineup. Make a change. Do something different," another fan said.
"This keeps happening. and it’s really really concerning," one fan said.
Philadelphia Phillies drop to third-best record in the MLB
Following their continuous struggles, the Phillies (74-53) have dropped to the third-best record in the MLB. The team dominated the league before the All-Star break. However, the Dodgers (76-52) and the Yankees (75-53) are now ahead in the race.
It could probably be a rough patch for the team. Nevertheless, they are still one of the best and are one of the teams set to make the playoffs. The Phils are also predicted to clinch the NL East Division.
