Toronto Blue Jays star Vladimir Guerrero Jr. might not be teammates with Bo Bichette by the end of next season. Vladdy Jr. is currently embroiled in contract negotiations with the team, and both stars' current deals are set to expire at the end of the 2025 campaign.
Away from the field, however, Guerrero is still showing some love to his teammate. On Sunday, Vladdy Jr. shared a photo of Bichette with a new haircut on his Instagram story.
Bichette, who is known for his long flowing locks, chose to cut his hair and went for the brush-up style. Guerrero added the "pinched fingers" emoji, which is similar to the Italian gesture often used to show disbelief. Perhaps Vladdy Jr. was surprised to see his teammate looking so different.
The star shortstop was spotted at the UFC event in Tampa, Florida. It was the mixed martial arts organization's last event for the calendar year. UFC Tampa was headlined by a welterweight bout between Joaquin Buckley and the highly controversial Colby Covington—who walked out with wrestling legend Hulk Hogan.
Buckley defeated Covington via a doctor stoppage after the latter was peppered with punches that led to his eyelid almost getting cut off.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. reportedly rejected massive contract extension from Blue Jays
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. had the chance to seal his future in Toronto, but he turned it down.
According to a report by MLB insider Mike Rodriguez on Friday, the Toronto Blue Jays reportedly offered a contract extension to star Guerrero Jr. worth over $340 million, which he rejected.
Guerrero has been one of the focal points of trade rumors in the past few weeks. He signed a short-term deal in 2022 worth $7.9 million to avoid salary arbitration. Ahead of the 2024 season, he was awarded a $19.9 million salary by the arbitration committee—the largest salary arbitration awarded in league history.
Guerrero Jr. is coming off another strong season where he hit a career-high .323 with 30 home runs and 103 RBIs.
It remains to be seen if the Dominican star will stay north of the border or will the Blue Jays move on and ship him elsewhere in exchange for future squad pieces.
