Toronto Blue Jays slugger Vladimir Guerrero Jr. reacted to his Hall of Fame dad’s heartfelt message on Instagram.

Vladimir Guerrero Sr. shared this motivational message with fans and followers on Monday:

In the caption, the senior Guerrero wrote:

“Love what you do, every single day. Happy Monday, let’s get it!”

In the Spanish-language caption, Guerrero Sr. added:

“When you love what you do, it’s not work. Happy start to the week my wonderful people.”

The inspirational thoughts prompted a flurry of reactions, including Guerrero Sr.’s number-one fan: Vladimir Guerrero Jr.

Here’s a look at what Vladdy commented:

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. will hope to follow in his father's footsteps. The senior Guerrero hit 449 homers and drove 1,496 runs to go with a .318 lifetime batting average.

If Vladdy Jr. can emulate those numbers, there's a good chance he'll be joining his father in Cooperstown at some point down the road.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. could be traded before spring training

During an appearance on MLB Network publishing on Jan. 9, insider Harold Reynolds predicted the Toronto Blue Jays would trade Vladimir Guerrero Jr. before spring training if both sides are unable to work out a long-term extension.

According to co-host Matt Vasgersian, Guerrero Jr. is seeking a deal north of $450 million. That sort of number would explain why there’s speculation that the Blue Jays and the Guerrero Jr. camp are $100 million apart.

While Reynolds and Vasgersian agreed that re-signing Guerrero Jr. is the Blue Jays’ top priority at the moment, the commentators disagreed on the likelihood of the Blue Jays trading Guerrero Jr.

The proposed idea is reminiscent of what the San Diego Padres did a couple of offseasons ago, trading Juan Soto to the New York Yankees when the club felt they wouldn’t be able to re-sign him.

As such, the Blue Jays would be expecting a similar return as the one the Padres got for Soto. At this moment, there is no indication that the trade route is the one the Blue Jays will take. But if they do, Reynolds believes it will happen before the start of spring training.

“I think if they’re not going to be able to lock him up, he’ll be traded before the season starts, a spring training blockbuster,” Reynolds said.

Otherwise, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and the Blue Jays could be looking at a summer of uncertainty as Guerrero Jr.’s impending free agency looms over the Jays’ season.
