Toronto Blue Jays first baseman/third baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. might get an extension to his contract ahead of his potential stint as a free agent this winter. The Blue Jays have tried to retain Guerrero a few times in the past, but they could never get close and his value is on a constant inclination.
As per New York Post's Jon Heyman, Guerrero will sit down with the management to discuss renewing his contract. Heyman added that Guerrero needs to be extended because of his homegrown star status.

Heyman also reported that Guerrero has a better chance of getting signed than his peer, Bo Bichette:
"The Blue Jays are again expected to try to lock up superstar first baseman/third baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. this winter, and though they have a better shot with Guerrero than co-star Bo Bichette, they will need to step up efforts to keep Guerrero, who’s in great shape and back to near MVP level," Heyman said.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. gets branded as "best hitter in the world"
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is currently slashing .286/.368/.429 with 36 RBI, 10 home runs and a 129 OPS+ this season. Recently, his teammate Bo Bichette sang words of praise for Guerrero Jr. (via Sports Net):
"I think he’s having a ton of fun, first off, which obviously comes with the territory of being the best hitter in the world. There’s obviously an incredible amount of confidence he’s playing with," Bichette said.
"But I mean [the media has] heard from me plenty throughout the years when everybody was doubting if he was truly that type of player. Me telling you guys, ‘I still think he’s the best hitter in the world.’ There’s never been any doubt for me watching him," he added.
Recently, Guerrero Jr. popped off his 28th home run of this season while going 4-for-5, it was evident that Bo Bichette wasn't surprised by this shot. Even though, this year has Aaron Judge and Bobby Witt Jr. thriving in the race of AL MVP with almost 60 home runs, Geurrero Jr. has still managed to reach impressive numbers nonetheless.
