On Tuesday, Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. took to Instagram to share a snap to his story, featuring his grandmother, Altagracia Alvino, as she celebrated her birthday.
Vladdy Jr. also penned an emotional message for his grandmother on her big day.
"Happy birthday my beautiful grandmother may God continue to bless you and continue to give you life and health to see your grandchildren making history," Guerrero Jr. captioned his Instagram story.
Vladdy has been very close to his grandmother. Reportedly, Alvino currently lives with Guerrero Jr. in Toronto while he plays day in and day out for the Blue Jays.

She cooks his favorite Dominican dishes and even does his laundry, per the Canadian Press. Additionally, she is also someone with whom Vladdy can talk about baseball.
The first baseman finished the 2024 regular season with a .323 batting average and .940 OPS, along with 30 home runs and 103 RBIs. His fantastic performances over the course of the campaign were rewarded with what was his fourth career All-Star cap and second career Silver Slugger award.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr.'s grandmother's cooking has plenty of fans
Vladimir Guerrero Jr.'s grandmother, Altagracia Alvino, currently lives with Vladdy in Toronto, making sure he gets plenty of his favorite home-cooked food.
However, Guerrero Jr. is only one of the many players of Dominican descent currently plying their trade in the big leagues, and when Alvino got word that some of them were really missing their favorite meals, she took matters into her own hands.
Per the New York Times, Alvino makes sure to make plenty of her son's favorite every day, to have enough to feed not only her grandson, but also his teammates and sometimes even players on opposing teams.
This is not something that has come about recently, either. Alvino has been carrying out these duties ever since her son, Vladimir Guerrero (Vladdy Jr.'s father), was in his playing days.
