Alec Bohm's reaction upon hearing Ingrid Andress' rendition of the US national anthem ahead of the 2024 MLB Home Run Derby went viral.
During Andress' live performance of "The Star-Spangled Banner," Bohm's attempt to suppress his laughter was caught on camera.
But Bohm wasn't the only one who had this reaction.
Andress became the subject of online criticism and was also compared to Fergie, who also gave an infamous rendition of the national anthem at the 2018 NBA All-Star Game.
Andress is a four-time Grammy Award nominee, and her single "More Hearts Than Mine" made the Billboard Hot 100 in 2019. The Michigan-born musician has been active since 2014.
Alec Bohm fell short in Home Run Derby to eventual winner Teoscar Hernández
It was all business for the Phillies slugger on Monday as Bohm led the first round of the eight slugger fest with 21 homers, tying José Ramírez. Pete Alonso, Gunnar Henderson, Adolis García and Marcell Ozuna were eliminated.
In the next round, Ramírez's 12 homers were surpassed by Kansas City Royals star Bobby Witt Jr.'s 17. Meanwhile, Bohm and Teoscar Hernández got into an epic duel with both hitting 14 homers. This led to a tiebreaker where the Dodgers star recorded two home runs in a swing off as opposed to Bohm who had one.
In the final, Hernández defeated Witt Jr. with a narrow 14-13 margin to lift the Home Run Derby title for the first time.
Bohm will start Tuesday's MLB All-Star game at third base. This is his first All-Star selection and he will share the field with seven Phillies teammates in their bid to secure a win for the National League.
