Anthony Volpe may have saved the New York Yankees season, at least enough to potentially fight another day. Like much of the Yankees lineup, the talented young shortstop has had a relatively quiet World Series, however, with one swing of the bat, he may have etched his name in club history.

In the bottom of the 3rd inning, Anthony Volpe made Los Angeles Dodgers reliever Daniel Hudson pay for his lack of control in Game 4 on Tuesday. The 23-year-old launched a grand slam over the wall in left field, sending the fans at Yankee Stadium into a frenzy, while also giving New York a 5-2 lead.

The New York native's first career postseason home run could not have come at a more important time for the club as they were trailing in a pivotal Game 4. Volpe, who grew up watching Yankees games as a kid, may have helped keep the team's season and World Series hopes alive.

After the Los Angeles Dodgers took an early lead in Game 4 thanks to Freddie Freeman hitting another home run, the crowd at Yankee Stadium fell nervously silent. That changed after Volpe slugged his team into the lead, giving them new life in the World Series even though they have their backs against the wall.

Anthony Volpe has continually been dubbed as the next Derek Jeter and now, after hitting a clutch grand slam in the World Series, he has taken as major step towards establishing himself as the team's long-term solution at shortstop.

The Yankees will hope that Anthony Volpe's grand slam will wake up their lineup

While there is still a long way to go before the New York Yankees could potentially hoist the World Series for the first time since 2009, Volpe has put his stamp on this game. Given the struggles of the Yankees lineup throughout the World Series, it will be interesting to see if Volpe's home run gives them the much-needed spark that they have lacked through the first three games.

Despite having one of the top lineups in baseball all season, the Yankees have struggled to string consistent good hits. Stars such as Aaron Judge, Anthony Rizzo, and Austin Wells have been unable to provide much of anything throughout the World Series, however, there is a chance that Volpe's home run could change things for the club.
