After winning four consecutive matchups, the Houston Astros started another three-game series with the New York Mets on Friday. The game saw the Astros' manager Joe Espada ejected as the team struggled against the Mets.
In the seventh inning, Jake Meyers was struck out by right-handed pitcher Dedniel Nunez. Meyers had a 1-2 count, with all pitches being Four-Seam Fastballs. Nunez then threw a slider that the batter did not swing at.
However, the umpire judged the pitch to have passed through the strike zone and called it a strike. Jake Meyers left the field, visibly frustrated with the decision. Shortly after, Houston manager Joe Espada came onto the field to argue with home plate umpire Jim Wolf. Espada was dissatisfied with the strike call and contested it, but was soon ejected by Wolf.
