Yu Darvish records 2000th Major league strikeout in the Padres 4-2 victory against the White Sox
In the third inning of Sunday’s 4-2 victory over the Chicago White Sox, Yu Darvish recorded the 2,000th strikeout of his major league career. This milestone marks the first time a Japanese-born pitcher has achieved this feat.
Darvish struck out the White Sox’s Luis Robert Jr. on a 1-3 count.
Darvish pitched for 6.1 innings, allowing three hits and two runs, while recording nine strikeouts in the game. So far in the 2024 season, Darvish is 6-3 with a 3.18 ERA, 74 strikeouts and a 1.06 WHIP.
