George Springer and his daughter shared an adorable moment before his latest game against the Baltimore Orioles. While this season might be forgettable for Springer and his team, the moment he shared with his child will never be forgotten.
The Blue Jays shared a picture on Instagram of his young daughter throwing him a ball. His wife was stationed behind to make sure she didn't fall, and Springer held out his glove while holding his son with his other arm.
A video was also shared. Springer and his kids walked out to the mound and enjoyed the ceremonial first pitch, which was short but one of the sweetest moments seen on a baseball field this season.
The Springer family enjoyed a night that was "special," as the Toronto Blue Jays' Instagram caption read. Fans cheered as Springer's daughter dropped the ball cleanly into her father's glove, with smiles all around during the entire sequence.
George Springer, Blue Jays couldn't keep winning ways up
The evening began well for Springer. The former Houston Astros outfielder created a memory his family will cherish forever. The good times didn't continue into the game, though, despite the team's hot start.
The Jays won the opener of the series with the Baltimore Orioles, but couldn't secure a home series victory on Wednesday night. They endured yet another Jackson Holliday home run (his third game hitting one in a row) and eventually lost.
The Orioles jumped on top 2-1 after one complete inning, but the Blue Jays took the lead in the second inning. Those three runs would be all they scored, though, as Baltimore scored five unanswered to get the win.
Springer recorded one hit in his five at-bats from the leadoff spot. He did not score, walk or have an RBI in the game. Despite the loss that dropped them to 10 games under .500, this was a special night.
