Baseball returns to Japan, where the Chicago Cubs and the Los Angeles Dodgers will set up a duel at the Tokyo Dome to start the 2025 MLB regular season. The two teams will lock horns on March 18 and 19, with both teams filled with Japanese-born baseball superstars.
With the announcement of the new series, the Cubs shared a heartfelt promo involving two of their stars, Shota Imanaga and Seiya Suzuki, at its center. In the promo, both Imanaga and Suzuki are captured in their childhood cheering and watching an MLB game involving the Cubs on TV. Twenty-five years later, both will will represent the same team in front of their homeland.
"Someday is now. See you in Tokyo," the headline of the promo.

Both teams will have an array of Japanese stars to get some support to their side. For the Dodgers, the ever-popular Shohei Ohtani (Oshu, Iwate) and Yoshinobu Yamamoto (Bizen, Okayama) will be on the lookout.
For the Mets, Shota Imanaga (Kitakyushu, Fukuoka) and Seiya Suzuki (Arakawa City, Tokyo) will get crowd cheering for their club.
The game will mark the 25th anniversary of the Mets and Cubs playing the MLB’s first regular-season games in Japan. Previous other openers include the New York Yankees and the Tampa Bay Rays (2004), the Boston Red Sox and the Oakland Athletics (2008), the Seattle Mariners and the Oakland Athletics (2012) and the Seattle Mariners and the Oakland Athletics (2019).
Dodgers vs Cubs 2025 Tokyo Series gets a presenting sponsor
Global Investment and Advisory firm Guggenheim will serve as a presenting sponsor for the 2025 Tokyo Series to be played between the Cubs and the Dodgers.
“The Tokyo Series presented by Guggenheim provides us with a unique opportunity to showcase great Japanese players in their homeland for our passionate fans in that country,” said Noah Garden, MLB Deputy Commissioner, Business & Media.
“Our new partnership with Guggenheim will help us expand the impact of the event as MLB’s popularity in Japan continues to grow rapidly.”
This year, many regular-season series were played under the MLB World Tour, featuring games in Seoul, London, Mexico City and the Dominican Republic.
Initially, as per Spectrum New, Paris was decided to be the place for next season's regular season fixture, but with no sponsors on the lookout, Tokyo was locked upon.
