The Chicago Cubs won't be playing any part in the postseason as the NL Central team failed in the pursuit of the last NL Wild Card spot. However, rookie pitcher Shota Imanaga continues to entertain fans with his quirky personality.

The Cubs rookie has been one of the leading performers for the team this season and he has emerged as a fan favorite for his fun-loving attitude on and off the field.

Ahead of the Cubs' game against the Washington Nationals on Sunday, Shota Imanaga and his translator, Edwin Stanbery, arrived in a hilarious costume. The Japanese pitcher and his translator dressed up as Slinky from the Toy Story movies, attached by a spring.

The rookie ace seemingly had a fun time in the costume, shaking his hips as he approached the camera before the duo posed for a picture in the clubhouse at Wrigley Field.

In his potential penultimate game of the season at Wrigley Field, Shota Imanaga went seven innings deep to shut out the Nationals on Sunday. It was the Japanese rookie's 29th start of the season and he managed to scalp a win to add to his 15-3 record this season.

Imanaga became the first Cubs pitcher since Dick Drott in 1957 to register 15 wins in his rookie season. Despite a lengthy rain delay, the Cubs ace was focused on bringing in the win for his team.

“I kept in mind during the game that there was a possibility it might continue to rain and there might be a delay,” Imanaga said through interpreter Edwin Stanberry. “So just keeping that in mind, and not getting swayed too much with how the environment is around me and just focusing on the game [was key].”

The Cubs have missed out on the playoffs for a fourth consecutive year but will look at the positives after Imanaga emerged as a Rookie of the Year candidate in an impressive first year in the MLB. The team will finish the season with a three-game home series against the Cincinnati Reds following the ongoing series on the road against the Philadelphia Phillies.
