The promoters for upcoming horror film "Smile 2" struck again with some excellent marketing during Game 2 of the NLCS between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the New York Mets at Dodgers Stadium on Monday.
While it concerned several fans at first, the pair who donned neon yellow shirts and held an eerie smile were there to promote the upcoming horror film "Smile 2". The Mets went on to secure a 7-3 win over the Dodgers to bounce back and tie the series at 1-1 before they head to Citi Field for Game 3.

"Smile 2", a sequel to 2022's "Smile", is an American supernatural horror film scheduled to be theatrically released across the US on Oct. 18. Hence, the promotion for the upcoming release in the NLCS.
It's not the first time the movie's promoters have employed the tactic, having done the same thing in MLB games ahead of the original's release. It has proved to be an effective tactic to create a buzz among fans and spread of mouth.
In the game itself, the Mets put in a strong showing to remind everyone that they are here to fight. Once again, it was Francisco Lindor who came to their rescue, blasting a leadoff solo homer in the first inning to put them on the front foot. While Tyrone Taylor added a RBI double, Mark Vientos went big with a grand slam to give them a 6-0 lead in the second inning.
That left the Dodgers playing catch-up. While they mounted a fightback through a Max Muncy homer and a Tommy Edman RBI, it wasn't enough. The teams will now travel to New York for the next two games of what promises to be an exciting affair.
"Smile 2" promotion plant in Dodger Stadium breaks character during NLCS
While the promotion tactic used by "Smile 2" promoters was no doubt a huge hit, which caught plenty of attention, there was a small hiccup to the execution.
Putting on creepy smiles behind home plate was a lady whose T-shirt said "Smile", accompanied by a man whose T-shirt said "2", both in neon yellow. Throughout the game, they did a great job staying in character and creeping people out, except in one instance during the bottom of the eighth.
During a Edwin Diaz pitch to Max Muncy, a foul ball off the bat went high in the air and straight towards the crowd behind home plate. That made the man from the "Smile 2" couple look up and wince, breaking character for the first time.
