Los Angeles Dodgers All-Star Freddie Freeman endured a tough couple of months after the 2024 All-Star game after his wife Chelsea revealed their son Max's rare nerve condition.
Freddie's three-year-old son was kept in a pediatric ICU after he was diagnosed with Guillain-Barré syndrome in July, which led to a full body paralysis. However, nearly two months after the diagnosis, Max has started to walk again.
Chelsea Freeman, who regularly keeps fans updated on her son's condition after his release from the hospital, shared a heartwarming video of Max walking on his own and late between the bases at Dodger Stadium with the help of his dad.
"The best day," Chelsea captioned the post.
Max is the youngest of Freedie and Chelsea Freeman's three sons. Their other two sons, Charlie and Brandon, have been supporting their sibling on his road to recovery.
Freddie and Chelsea reportedly dated for three years before marrying in 2014 and welcoming their first son, Charlie, in 2016.
Chelsea Freeman grateful for physical therapists' efforts in Max's recovery
Chelsea Freeman also shared a story of Max's recovery after he started walking. She thanked the physical therapists for their role in the three-year-old's recovery until now.
"Max has worked so hard for this. So thankful for our incredible physical therapists who have helped so much along the way," Chelsea wrote.
"Paralyzed from the neck down 2 months ago. My miracle baby," she added.
Despite her son recovering from a rare neurological disease, Chelsea Freeman has been a constant pillar of support for her Dodgers star husband.
Chelsea was at Truist Park for the Dodgers' series against the Atlanta Braves last week. She shared pictures of her family with Max accompanying them to the ballpark.
Freddie Freeman and the Dodgers are involved in a decisive three-game series against division rivals San Diego Padres. While the Dodgers lead the NL West, the Padres cut their lead to just two games with a win in the series opener on Tuesday.
Although both teams have qualified for the postseason, the NL West title is going down to the wire, with both teams going neck to neck in Wednesday's game at the time of writing.
